We certainly hit the right note with our 2012 Festival
From the positive responses from participants, organisations, businesses and punters, this year’s event – where we partnered with the Classic Boats Rally and the Port of Plymouth Regatta – was a winner.
Some feedback demonstrates how the Festival helps to promote Plymouth positively too and this year we felt much more embedded with the city’s rapidly-improving marketing approaches.
Below is some of the feedback we have received:
Jonathan Brice, Classic Boat Rally organizer
“Our two events have a natural symbiotic relationship which is obvious from the feedback which I have received from the Rally participants and from many members of the public.“I am not aware of anybody who had anything negative to say about any of it! There has been much enthusiastic praise for the enhancement of the Sutton Harbour Plymouth Classic Boat Rally by the Barbican Jazz and Blues Festival.
“In particular, the placing of the musicians on the floating stage on Saturday night was a triumph, much enjoyed by all who attended. The music drifting across from your main stage on West Pier was also welcome.
“In general, the carnival atmosphere created during the weekend in and around Sutton Harbour and the wider Barbican area is something of which you can be proud.”
Benjamin Shearn, chair of Association of Barbican Businesses and Plymouth Waterfront Partnership director
“Once again the Barbican International Jazz and Blues Festival exceeded all expectations!“Consistently throughout the Festival you and your team provided an outstanding event which attracted, captivated and held thousands of quality spectators whose dwell-time in the Barbican and Waterfront area was significantly longer than anyone had even hoped.
“These in turn spent well in the local businesses and were able to appreciate what the area has to offer.
“Many, many thanks to Dan and his team for continually striving to make this event better each year.Sarah O’Leary, Waterfront Partnership manager
“A highlight of Plymouth’s summer shore-side events programme, the great musical and visual combination of the Barbican International Jazz & Blues Festival, Sutton Harbour Classic Boat Rally and the Port of Plymouth Regatta created a fantastic, lively weekend celebration drawing crowds of visitors to the quayside.”
