Graham Blight, who has been working in the shop for over 12 years takes great pride in what he does and is a true wealth of knowledge when it comes to this trade. Over the years, he has had the pleasure of framing an extensive selection of antique memorabilia and art with several Lenkiewicz’s originals behind his belt. The shop is a very popular choice with many local artists, galleries and photographers.

“My favourite things to frame have to be war memorabilia. They often sit in someone’s drawer or storage cupboard until they bring them in. It can get quite emotional when a customer comes to collect the ready piece, they often shed a tear or two as it brings back all the memories. It’s very special.”

Armada Framing offers a 15% discount to service personnel on all framing services. They have a vast selection of frames and backing to choose from and Graham offers his knowledge and experience to help you choose the best way to show off your art piece and preserve memories.

“There have been lots of quite unusual things I have framed over the years. From a dead pet spider, wedding night lingerie, a leaf, 10 000 piece jigsaw puzzle and even a dead mouse which the client found under floorboards when renovating their new home. It keeps things interesting”

Apart from framing, the shop is also a well-known and respected autograph dealer. The owner of Armada Framing – Norman Holmes holds a certificate of membership to The Autograph Fair Trade Association.  This allows you to buy with confidence and 100% certainty that you always get the real deal.

Tucked away inside the popular “House that Jack Built” –  Soperfect Images is every photographer’s idea of heaven. Whether you’re an amateur, a pro or a collector, there is plenty for you to discover inside. Russel Soper, the owner of the shop and a professional photographer himself has an ever growing collection of over 200 digital and vintage cameras, all in full working order. The shop also sells a variety of accessories, from film, straps, cases and memorabilia to a great selection of camera lenses.

Each camera purchased by Soperfect Images undergoes a thorough clean before it goes on the shop shelf, it is serviced and tested to ensure that when you take it home, there are no nasty surprises and that the equipment you get, performs at its best. All vintage cameras available are in full working order and the shop will be able to supply you with film as well as develop the images for you afterwards.

If you are tempted to challenge your skills with a camera which is 50 or even 100 years old, Russel will be running vintage photography workshops throughout 2018 starting from late January. This workshop is open for photographers of all abilities! You will have a chance to learn about different types of cameras, metering, composition, use of filters, 135 and 120 films, processing and much more. You’ll be using a variety of cameras from 1900’s through to 1980’s and each participant will be supplied with a camera and a roll of film.

For those of you considering purchasing a vintage camera, Russell also offers to meet you after purchase and help in testing your equipment. If you’re a little unsure of what results you could achieve when shooting with a vintage camera, there are many excellent examples in the shop and the friendly owner is always very keen to help and answer all your questions.

Soperfect Images recently completed their #52Cameras52Weeks project with local photographer  Ashley Williams. Each week, Ashley was asked to test and review a different vintage piece and upload the photos he managed to take. Some of the cameras that took part in this project are available to purchase in the shop along with the photos Ashely took. The results are truly spectacular and a real testimony to the capabilities of these vintage and retro pieces.
