The restaurant is the latest venue from chef and restaurateur Mitch Tonks & business partner Mat Prowse and follows on from the success of the Seahorse and Rockfish in Dartmouth. Both restaurants have recently won awards as ‘Britain’s best’ with the Seahorse winning Best restaurant in the Observer and the Good Food guide & Rockfish winning the best restaurant at this year’s National fish and chip awards.

The restaurant is the biggest Rockfish and is situated on the waterfront at Sutton Harbour, sandwiched between the commercial fish market and the National Marine Aquarium. It is a unique location and Tonks plans to showcase the wonderful diverse local seafood as well species such as
cod & haddock from other fisheries around the world that are recognised for leading the way in sustainability.

The restaurant is aiming to make seafood accessible to all, from avid seafood lovers to families who just want to relax and enjoy some great seafood. There is a dedicated take away with 100 seats overlooking the ocean for those guests who just want to enjoy the experience of fish and chips in the open air. The swing bridge connecting the historic Barbican to Coxside where Rockfish is situated will now be open until 11pm and the multi storey Harbourside car park will remain open until 11.30pm.

The restaurant and take away are open 7 days a week from 12-9.30pm.

Mitch Tonks Commented: “Plymouth is a Britain’s Ocean city with ever growing popularity, it has become a great destination to eat in and is home to one of the best fish markets in the UK. I believe we have some of the best seafood in the world along the South West peninsula, I like to think of it as Britain’s seafood coast. Rockfish is in a unique location just feet from the doors of the market and the national Aquarium. The restaurant and take away have spectacular views of the harbour and ocean and I believe the location, the amazing seafood landed at Plymouth and our expertise at Rockfish will create a real seafood destination for locals and visitors alike and hopefully be a welcome addition amongst the already brilliant seafood restaurants in the city”
