The Victoria Sewart Contemporary Jewellery Gallery celebrates its seventh year of trading with RINGING THE CHANGES an exhibition of internationally renowned British jewellers making contemporary wedding jewellery. This is the first exhibition of its kind to be held in Plymouth.
The exhibition includes 11 new designers, never before shown in Plymouth, and new work from current Victoria Sewart Gallery designers. All specialising in rings made from a wide range of materials, traditional, contemporary, precious and affordable. Sustainability is important with the designers using materials that are sourced as ethically as possible.
Victoria recently got married herself, organising her own wedding. Historically the bride and groom have chosen the photographer, florist and caterers, but a new dimension is being added with the bride and groom personalising their rings with individual jewellery designers.
Victoria recognises that people want a more personal wedding, which now includes contemporary and bespoke non ‘high street’ wedding jewellery.
The gallery works closely with the client to customise designs to suit them.
The Victoria Sewart Contemporary Jewellery Gallery, Plymouth’s first contemporary jewellery gallery, has beautiful contemporary work from over 50 jewellery designers displayed in a modern gallery based in Plymouth’s historic Barbican. Unlike conventional jewellers, the gallery showcases an extraordinary range of work from precious metals to acrylics and feathers.
Popular jewellery making classes are held above the gallery including wedding ring workshops.
Victoria says – ‘The wedding ring workshops last year were amazing and making your own wedding rings is personal and can be cheaper too, as shown recently on Kirsty Allsopp’s vintage wedding’.
And it is for all these reasons that Victoria decided that it was about time to hold an exhibition to cater for this increasing trend in bespoke weddings.
