Eggs-cuse me, are you looking for some FREE family friendly fun this Easter? Join us on the Barbican for an Easter egg trail during 11th to 18th April, with a difference, help the Sea-ster Bunny find sea creatures eggs around the Barbican . Find them all and collect a sweet treat!
And… Spot the rogue egg to be in with a chance of winning a family ticket to the National Marine Aquarium, where you can see the creatures that laid these eggs!

Happy 11th Birthday to us!!
Today marks over 11 fantastic years of our work with the local Barbican community both online via our website and social media channels and on the ground, speaking regularly with fellow Barbican Businesses from around the area.
We’ve gotten involved in many incredible events and ventures over the years, linking up with the Barbican traders, helping to support digital initiatives, including supporting the popular annual local trails, growing ‘Halloween on the Barbican’ and doing our bit overall, to help promote the Barbican as a fantastic place to visit.

Barbican Christmas Lights Switch-on postponed
Message from the organisers:
” Due to the dangerously high winds forecasted for tomorrow (Saturday 27 November) we have unfortunately made the decision to postpone the Barbican Christmas Lights Switch-on event to next weekend, and it will now take place on Saturday 4 December.
With an amber weather warning in place, public safety is our number one priority. The vast majority of entertainment planned would also not be able to take place if we went ahead with the event tomorrow. We are working with all our suppliers, entertainers and guests to reschedule as much of the event as possible. Please look out for updated event information on the Visit Plymouth website next week.
We’re so sorry for any inconvenience caused, and hope you’ll all be able to join us next week instead!
The tree lights in Exchange Street Car Park will be turned purple and green from tonight and for the next week, in memory of Bobbi-Anne McLeod and the five victims of the Keyham tragedy in August. “
Nominate your local hero to switch on Barbican Christmas lights
Do you know someone who has gone above and beyond to support the community in Plymouth this year? Now is your opportunity to give them some well-deserved recognition by nominating them to turn on the Barbican Christmas lights.
Plymouth Waterfront Partnership (PWP) is asking the people of Plymouth to nominate their extra special 2021 Community Hero.
The winner will then join the Lord Mayor of Plymouth and Santa at the PWP Barbican Christmas Lights Switch-on on Saturday 27th November to turn on the lights, illuminating Southside Street ahead of the festive season.
Diane Mansell, Chief Executive of PWP, said: “We’re really looking forward to welcoming everyone to the Barbican Christmas Lights Switch-on, which is one of the Waterfront’s festive highlights and a great opportunity to support our amazing local businesses.
“All that we’re missing is a Community Hero to take on the honour of switching on the lights. Over the last year, we’ve seen the people of Plymouth come together as a community to support each other in so many different ways, and this is our chance to say a huge thank you to an unsung hero and celebrate all their hard work.”
You can nominate your Community Hero on the Visit Plymouth website HERE, where you will need to explain why they should be chosen, in a maximum of 150 words. Nominations are open now, and close on Sunday 7 November.
The nominated person must live in Plymouth and be available to attend the event on 27 November.
The Christmas lights will illuminate the length of Southside Street. There’s also brand new lights to adorn the trees at the Notte Street entrance of Southside Street, creating a bright and welcoming entrance to the Barbican.
On the day of the switch-on, festive fun will begin at 12pm with lots of FREE activities and entertainment in the performance area, located in front of the old Edinburgh Woollen Mill building. Expect amazing performances from groups including Starlines Drama School, Ocean City Sounds, Holy Cross Primary, Mayflower A Cappella Chorus, Plym Kids, Stage Stars and Italia Conti.
A huge Christmas parade will also take place on the day. Led by the Barbican Theatre’s amazing 7 metre tall Christmas elf puppet, and accompanied by a junk band, the parade will make its way up and down Southside Street, ending at Santa’s Grotto, where everyone will line up to escort Santa and our special guest to the stage for the big switch-on from 5.20pm.
